The third church in Jesus' letter to the seven churches is Pergamum! The capital of Asia Minor before Domitian's favouritism extend that to Ephesus. If you think of Auckland being Ephesus, Smyrna being Tauranga, then think of Pergamum being Wellington. Pergamum was the political centre of Asia Minor. The Roman governor had his seat there and it was the centre of the Roman justice system for the region. And like many capital cities around the world, diversity was one of it's attractions, especially when it came to religion!
