The third church in Jesus' letter to the seven churches is Pergamum! The capital of Asia Minor before Domitian's favouritism extend that to Ephesus. If you think of Auckland being Ephesus, Smyrna being Tauranga, then think of Pergamum being Wellington. Pergamum was the political centre of Asia Minor. The second church in this letter to the seven churches is Smyrna! The jewel of Asia Minor. The printed coins of Smyrna from the era when the Book of Revelation was written actually had imprinted on them “first in Asia in beauty”. If you think of Wellington being Ephesus, then Smyrna would be any one of the lovely towns on the Kapiti coast.
